About the Digital Futures Tour
The Digital Futures Tour offers an in-depth exploration of how designers are shaping the digital world of tomorrow. This tour focuses on innovative projects that push the boundaries of technology, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), blockchain, and the broader impact of digital systems on our society.
You’ll encounter projects centred on virtual worlds and digital identities, highlighting human interaction and virtual environments. The tour also delves into the role of AI, with special attention given to the ethical dilemmas surrounding these technologies. In addition, you’ll see designs that make digital infrastructure and data security tangible and accessible, as well as projects aimed at improving our relationship with technology.
Examples from previous editions of Dutch Design Week include Intelligentie Ontleed by Waag Futurelab – a critical investigation into what artificial intelligence truly is – and Packet Run by Bureau Moeilijke Dingen & SIDN. This interactive installation playfully visualises how the internet works as a giant marble run.
