About the Equal Society Tour
The Equal Society Tour is a themed tour during Dutch Design Week that highlights projects working towards a more inclusive, safe, and connected society. With your group, you'll explore how systems and interactions can be (re)designed to ensure equal value and opportunity for all.
This tour spotlights design work that fosters equal participation across all layers of society, from innovations that support the role of an ageing population, to projects that imagine new ways of learning and sharing knowledge in light of education’s future. You'll also delve into the tension between technological progress and the safeguarding of individual rights, and encounter initiatives that reshape social structures to strengthen trust and democratic values.
Examples from past editions include Crafted Liberation by RK Collective — a powerful exhibition in which Iranian women transform hijabs into stadium seats, symbolising resilience and the ongoing fight for gender equality — and Design Beyond Vision by Simon Dogger and Boey Wang, a multisensory installation using touch and sound to make design accessible for those with visual impairments.
